Nebia friends and backers,

We are excited to announce that we have fulfilled our Kickstarter campaign promise to ship 2,500 units by the end of March (we actually shipped 2,501 units)! That being said, our supply chain has been slightly impacted by Covid-19, meaning that we will ship fewer units in April than expected. However, we are still on time to deliver all pledges per the timeline on our campaign page.

We hope that you are hanging in there as best as you can during these difficult times. At Nebia, we’ve been doing our part to #FlattenTheCurve by working from home for the past few weeks. We’ve learned a thing or two since then so we thought we’d share our stress-free steps to mastering WFH with a few printables (!!), as well as a list of our current favorite podcasts, books, and virtual events.

The good news is that we are still on track with our original shipping timeline (see below). Units for North American backers will continue to ship through the end of June. Please note that if you have selected Black & Chrome, these units will ship later than the other finishes, starting in June. International rewards will begin shipping in August through the end of October.

Answers to FAQs

The following questions have come up recently. To minimize confusion, we’d like to reiterate the following information:

1. I’m Backer ____, when will my order ship?

We are currently working to deliver Nebia by Moen units as fast as we can! Please refer to the shipping timeline above and keep in mind that shipping is based on a number of factors (including when you answer your BackerKit survey, the products you pledge for, the color you select, and your shipping country), not just your backer number.

2. I have not yet received my BackerKit survey. Where is it?

All BackerKit surveys have been sent out for Nebia by Moen Rainshower and Combo pledge levels. If you cannot find yours, make sure to check your junk mail. The subject line is "Response Needed -- Get your reward for Nebia by Moen: Our Most Advanced and Accessible Shower." If you still can’t find it, get in touch with us and we will resend it to you. Note that we will not ship your reward until your survey has been completed. 

3. I selected an add-on, when will it ship?

If your Nebia by Moen unit has already shipped, we will ship your Matte Silver or Matte Black Nebia Shelf this week or the following. Moen Align valves and valve trims will ship out between mid to late April. For pledges shipping in May, your add-ons will ship at approximately the same date as your showers. All Spot Resist Nickel Shelves will ship in June. Note that any add-ons will ship separately from your Nebia by Moen.

4. I’d like to upgrade my pledge level from the Rainshower to the Combo (Rainshower + Handheld Wand). How can I do so?

If your order is not yet locked, you can still upgrade your pledge level from the Rainshower to the Combo (Rainshower + Handheld Wand) through your BackerKit survey. For specific instructions, refer to the “Completing your BackerKit Survey - Required” section here.

If your order has been locked, you can purchase the Handheld Wand + Dock through our website at a discounted pre-order price.

5. I’d like to purchase an accessory / add-on. How can I do so? 

If your order is not yet locked, you can purchase a Nebia Shelf, Moen Align valve trim and/or valve, and/or a handheld dock + wand through your BackerKit survey. For specific instructions on how to do this, refer to the “Adding a Nebia Shelf, Moen Valve Trim, and/or Valve to Your Pledge” section here. Note that the Moen Align valve trim and/or valve are only available in North America.

If your order has been locked, you still have the option to purchase these accessories through our website at a discounted pre-order price.

6. I’d like to purchase an additional unit. How can I do so?

If your order is not yet locked, you can purchase an additional unit through your BackerKit survey. The first question on the survey allows you to choose the color of your first Nebia by Moen unit. If you’d like to select ADDITIONAL Nebia by Moen units you can do in the add-on portion of the survey. For specific instructions, refer to the “Completing your BackerKit Survey - Required” section here.

If your order has been locked, you still have the option to purchase an additional unit through our website at a discounted pre-order price.

7. Is a Moen Align valve trim and/or valve required for my Nebia by Moen to work?

No. We are excited to offer high-quality, high-performance valve trims from Moen’s Align Collection to match your Nebia by Moen. However, the valves and valve trims that we’re offering are by no means required. If your shower already has a valve / temperature control, there is no need to change it, unless you’d like it to match the finish of your Nebia by Moen. Please note that valve trims DO require a corresponding standard valve/temperature control (we offer the M-Pact Posi-Temp® 1/2" IPS Connection). Changing your valve and trim will very likely require the help of a plumber as you need to get behind the wall. This is ideal for remodels or new construction.

8. Am I able to make changes to my BackerKit survey?

You’ll have the ability to update or make changes to your survey responses, add-ons, shipping address, and payment information until your order is locked a few weeks before it ships. You will not be charged for any add-ons you’ve selected until your order is locked. You’ll receive an email notifying you ahead of time, so you can review your responses and make any final changes if necessary. Once your order is locked and/or you have been charged, you may no longer make changes to your order.

9. When will I be charged for any add-ons?

You will be charged once your order has been locked and is ready to ship.

10. Can I return my Nebia by Moen and/or add-on?

For all Nebia by Moen Kickstarter backers, you can cancel your pledge prior to the reward items shipping. Once shipped, we do not offer returns on Kickstarter rewards. The support we receive through Kickstarter enables us to bring new products to market, grow our business, interact with customers early and often, and improve our existing products. In the Kickstarter community, the items that you receive after making a pledge are referred to as "rewards" because they are not purchases in the traditional sense. They are gifts - in our case, a shower - that are sent to our supporters as a token of appreciation for their support of our mission. In the same way that public television funds their service through the pledges of their supporters, who in turn receive gifts and continued programming, we have chosen to run and grow our business on a crowdfunded business model.

We appreciate your understanding of our policy and the support you have given us. Again, although we won’t allow returns once shipped, we will allow for refunds before we ship your product.

Nebia friends and backers,

Writing with some good news -- It has been just over two weeks since our Kickstarter campaign ended and we have already shipped 1,200 units (over 1,500 units by the end of today)!

Right now we know there’s only one thing on everyone’s minds -- Coronavirus. Our team in both our San Francisco and Mexico City office are currently working from home and taking all necessary precautionary measures. Wherever you may be, we hope you are staying safe and taking care of yourself and others. As of now, COVID-19 has not impacted our shipping timeline and we are still shipping pledges from our warehouse. For this we are grateful! 🙏 That being said, things are changing rapidly and it is not unlikely that our delivery schedule will be affected in the weeks to come. We’re closely monitoring the situation and will be sure to keep you, our Kickstarter community, updated with the latest information.

Getting Ready For Your Nebia by Moen To Arrive→

How to Create the Perfect Nebia Experience

In anticipation of receiving your new Nebia by Moen, we wanted to share some tips with you to optimize your Nebia experience. There is no wrong way to shower, but when every detail of Nebia by Moen is fine tuned to you, this is when the Nebia experience is at its absolute best!

TIP 1: Mount Dock at Hip Height ⭐

The wand is a critical component to Nebia by Moen's signature experience. It can be hand held or docked on the dome-shaped magnet. Position the dock at hip level to focus the wand's spray on your lower half, enveloping you from 360 degrees. This is very important for getting the full experience.

Pro tip: Shower once or twice before mounting the dock, so you can simulate how the side spray feels at different positions, before securing the adhesive.

TIP 2: Let the steam build

Turn on your Nebia by Moen and wait before stepping in to build the steam room effect and heat up the surrounding air.

TIP 3: Adjust the height

Nebia easily slides up and down 17 inches, providing a comfortable experience for people of all heights. Position the head 3-6" above you depending on how hot you like it.

If you don’t want to get your hair wet, slide the arm down and tilt the head towards your chest.

TIP 4: Find the right setting

Instead of warm water going straight down the drain, Nebia by Moen keeps the majority of the heat in the surrounding air - the key to the steam room experience. Since a portion of the heat is diffused into the environment, you may need to turn the valve to a warmer setting than you would normally.

We often get the question, “If I turn the valve to a higher setting, will it consume more energy?” Since Nebia draws very little water from your water heater, your water heater won’t need to continuously heat up gallons and gallons of cold water to replenish itself after a water-intensive shower. Even if Nebia is set a couple degrees higher, you will still save a significant amount of energy overall.

 TIP 5: Watch the installation video 

There are two types of Nebians out there: the careful ones who slowly study the installation instructions and the fearless ones who can't wait to start the process. Both types agree that installing Nebia is very easy and shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes.

We also wanted to give you a heads up regarding what to expect with our packaging. We’d like to premise this by saying that this is version 1 of our packaging. We realize that it is not 100% sustainable. The truth is, we needed to use some plastic bags and protective foam. Otherwise, we would have needed to include additional material to ensure the product is not damaged during delivery. We are constantly working with our supplier to find ever-more sustainable ways to package our products. In fact, we are already working on a new version which will reduce the amount of plastic in the spare parts boxes (dramatically reducing the amount of plastic bags).

For us, innovation is a continuous process, and we sweat even the smallest details of our packaging. That being said, we are proud to report that Nebia by Moen’s packaging is:

•  Our smallest package, using the least material, ever for one of our showers.
   
• Approximately 75% smaller than the original Nebia Spa Shower packaging and 15% smaller than Nebia 2.0’s updated packaging. This saves a lot of material, and cuts down the carbon footprint on transport considerably.
   
• The corrugate and pulp tray are made of fully recyclable material.
   
• The Nebia by Moen Combo package weighs 20% less than Nebia 2.1.

In terms of backers, this was our biggest Kickstarter campaign yet! Interestingly, for the past three campaigns, our top 5 backer cities have remained the same: Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, and San Jose.

Thanks to the support of this community, we’ve been able to create three luxurious, water-efficient showers, challenging how much water it takes to have an incredible shower and pushing the industry to innovate in the process. BackerKit Surveys

This week we have begun sending surveys via the pledge management platform BackerKit. Please keep your eye on your inbox over the next two weeks for an email from them. The survey will allow you to choose your desired color for your Nebia by Moen, provide your shipping address, and add any desired add-ons. If you are anxious to get your Nebia by Moen, it is critical that you complete this survey as we will not ship your reward until you have completed this survey.

Add-Ons

In the survey, backers will have the opportunity to add on additional Nebia by Moen units, the Nebia Shelf, valves, and/or valve trims for the same price as on Kickstarter.

Please note that the Nebia Shelf in Nickel is a new finish for this product, and will ship a little later (starting in June or July). The Nebia Shelf is available for both U.S. and international shipments.

We are excited to offer high-quality, high-performance valve trims from Moen’s Align Collection to match your Nebia by Moen. We would like to clarify, however, that the valves and valve trims that we’re offering are by no means required. If your shower already has a valve / temperature control, there is no need to change it, unless you’d like it to match the finish of your Nebia by Moen. We’d also like to clarify that we are offering a valve trim from Moen’s Align collection in Brushed Nickel. This valve trim matches the finish of the Spot Resist Nickel shower. However, it does not resist spots. Moen’s valve and valve trims are available only in the U.S. at this time.

 Completing your BackerKit Survey - Required 

Once you receive an email from BackerKit, access the survey by clicking the “Click Here to Respond” link in the email. To begin, select your country and click “Get Started!” On this survey, you will be able to add any additional items to your pledge (optional), select your color of choice, fill out your shipping address, and review your order.

If you’d like to upgrade your pledge level, open the BackerKit survey and there you’ll see a button that says "switch your pledge level" at the bottom (see image below). Click this and from there you can upgrade to the Combo pledge tier. If you pledged for more than one unit, add the additional units to your cart from the add-on menu. Don’t worry, you will not be charged anything extra.

If you’d like to include an add-on, either an accessory or an additional shower, just add it to your cart and then pay the outstanding balance (see image below).

International backers (excluding Australian backers), in the survey you will be able to select the type of shower configuration you have. You will have the following two options:

1. Above-Head Water Outlet with in-wall BSPT fittings (common in Europe and other parts of the world)

2. Waist-High Water Outlet with BSPP fittings (common in Europe and other parts of the world). *This is the only option available for Australian backers.

When you’re ready, submit your payment information (only required if you’ve altered your shipping address or selected additional add-on items) and click “Confirm” to complete the survey. You'll receive a confirmation email with a copy of your responses.

You’ll have the ability to update or make changes to your survey responses, add-ons, shipping address, and payment information until your order is locked a few weeks before it ships. You will not be charged for any add-ons you’ve selected until your order is locked. You’ll receive an email notifying you ahead of time, so you can review your responses and make any final changes if necessary. Once your order is locked, you may no longer make changes.

If you have not yet received your survey, expect to receive it by March 16 at the latest.

Shipping Timeline

We are currently on track with the shipping timeline provided in our campaign with the first 2,500 units shipping out this month. In fact, the first 200 units will go out this week! Units for North American backers will continue to ship through the spring with Black & Chrome units shipping out a little later, around mid June. International rewards will begin shipping in August through the end of October. Please keep in mind that shipping is based on a number of factors (including when you answer your BackerKit survey, the products you pledge for, the color you select, and your shipping country), not just your backer number. Also note that if you selected an add-on(s) or an additional unit and your backer number has changed, don’t worry. Your place in the shipping order has not changed.

If you have added an accessory / add-on to your pledge, it will be shipped separately and may ship out later than your shower. However, we will do our best to ship out all pre-ordered items around the same time.

 How are we already shipping units? Good question! 

We learned a lot from our first two Kickstarter campaigns. With these learnings in mind, we did something we have never done before. We started a small production run ahead of time, taking on some risk because of our faith in our Kickstarter community. We did this so that we could start delivering in record time. Our first production units arrived last week, see the pictures below!

As a small company, ordering this initial inventory was a considerable risk, but we evaluated that it was worth it. Fortunately, you all came through and ordered more than 9,280 units! We are working really hard to get you your units as close to the order of your backer number as possible, but there are many variables that influence this, ranging from your backer number, completion of the survey, and the inventory we have by color/variant. We did our best at predicting the percentage of units backers would order by color and Combo/Rainshower. However, our predictions were off by 5-30% depending on the variant. But don’t worry, we have already kicked off further production runs with the corresponding amounts for the variants you selected so that we can deliver within our timeline.

We are on track to deliver all units in the timeline we presented on Kickstarter. However, some variants will be shipping sooner than others. The most popular variants were:

1. Spot Resist Nickel - Combo 58% of all pledges
    
2. Matte Black - Combo - 17% of all pledges
    
3. White & Chrome - Combo - 15% of all pledges
    

The biggest surprise was how many of you selected the Spot Resist Nickel Combo. We think it’s great too! :) As such, if you choose this option there is a chance that your pledge may take a bit longer to ship than other variants (between March-May).

More details on our partnership with Moen

Backers have asked about our partnership with Moen and what it means for this product and future products. We are happy to share more. Our partnership with Moen centers primarily on the shared goal of creating great products and providing pioneering water savings technology to as many people as possible. We realize that scale is critical for Nebia to have maximum impact on tackling global water shortages.We believe that partnering with Moen means that 1+1 no longer equals 2, but instead equals 11. Our mutual strengths complement each other well, and it allows each company to really maximize the aspects of product development where we are strongest. The more homes with Nebia water-saving technology, the more water saved around the planet 🌎.

Functionally, the partnership has two main components: 1) We agreed to co-design and develop products that advance our shared mission, and 2) We each focus on distributing these new products through channels where we have relatively more experience. That is to say, Nebia will focus on bringing products to consumers through our website and Kickstarter, whereas Moen will focus on more traditional channels such as retail, showrooms, plumbers, and builders.

As a result of our partnership with Moen, over the coming months you may start to see Nebia by Moen available in other places in limited supply and limited color variants. Rest assured that through Kickstarter you secured the best price, by far. Likely by as much as 30-50%. As is the nature with growing the distribution of our products through this partnership, some things such as stock and availability in other places are largely out of our control. We will continue to offer pre-orders on our website and, once we have fulfilled all Kickstarter orders to North America, we will start offering live shipping (likely in early June).
