Introducing our 5th Kickstarter campaign -- Nebia Towels!

Dear Nebia by Moen backers,

We are so excited to announce that our 5th Kickstarter campaign is LIVE! Just a few minutes ago, we launched Nebia Towels and we wanted you to be the first to know about it.

Back in 2015, we had a big idea – to create a shower that dramatically saves water while delivering a superior shower experience. We took that idea to Kickstarter, not knowing what to expect, and were blown away by your response.

Fast forward 7 years… We have successfully launched four Kickstarter campaigns and received backing from over 21,000 backers. Our products are in over 70 countries and more than 100,000 homes, and our community has saved over 400 million gallons of water! This would not have been possible without you. 🙏

While our origins are in water savings, over the past three years we have re-imagined other vital parts of the shower experience, ranging from shower curtains made from rPET to bath mats made from a quick drying stone-like material.

Like all of our products, we knew that if we were to make a towel, it had to be a product with good design, great user experience, and better for the planet. That's why we set out to create a new kind of sustainable towel. One that gives you everything you want from a towel, and more.

The Nebia Towel is our most important innovation in years, and we couldn’t be more excited to launch it on Kickstarter, where we got our start.

All Pledges Have Been Shipped! Thank You for Being a Part of this Journey 🙏

Last month we shared some exciting news -- we started shipping international pledges ahead of schedule. Now we’re thrilled to report that all North American and international pledges have been shipped, two months ahead of schedule!!!  🎉🎉

The only exception to this are the 137 people who have not yet completed their BackerKit surveys. As a reminder, we will not ship your unit until you’ve completed your BackerKit survey. If you have not filled out your survey, please visit https://nebia-by-moen.backerkit.com/ and use your Kickstarter login information to access your BackerKit profile. If you need any help, contact us at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to assist you.

During our first two Kickstarter campaigns, we learned a lot. For our third Kickstarter campaign, we applied these learnings and were able to deliver your pledges in record time. Just a month after our campaign ended, we shipped the first 200 units. In May, we shipped 1,600 units in one week (a record for Nebia!) and by mid-July we had shipped all 6,785 North American units. By August, we had manufactured an E.U. compatible version of Nebia by Moen -- the Nebia by Moen Waist-High -- and by the end of the month had shipped all 1,269 international units. In the end, we successfully shipped 8,054 units two months ahead of the shipping timeline originally stated on our campaign. 

We think that’s cause for celebration! 

Thank You & A Way Forward

In many ways, the world looks different now than it did when our campaign ended back in February. In our first update following the campaign, we wrote:

We believe in a world that does not accept the status quo. We believe in a world that stretches the limits of creativity and ingenuity to look beyond what has already been done before. Clearly, you believe in this too.

Today these words ring more true than ever. Covid-19 has shown us that business cannot go on as usual. Novel solutions are urgently needed to address the many challenges facing our planet. And we need to come together as a global community to renounce the status quo and work towards a more climate-friendly future.

For the past several years we have been refining the shower experience through atomization technology. Some of you have supported us since our first Kickstarter campaign, when we introduced the world’s first atomizing shower. Many others joined us on this last campaign when we launched Nebia by Moen -- our most advanced and accessible shower yet. In fact, with 8,735 total backers, our Nebia by Moen Kickstarter was our biggest campaign ever!

Thanks to the support of this community, we’ve been able to create three luxurious, water-efficient showers, challenging how much water it takes to have an incredible shower and pushing the industry to innovate in the process. By pledging for Nebia by Moen, and using it in your homes, you are helping us scale the impact of the Nebia community like never before. This update concludes an important chapter in our journey. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for being a part of it.

Nebia by Moen Waist-High

An easy, DIY install has always been at the core of the Nebia experience and we worked hard to make sure the install for Nebia by Moen Waist-High was no exception. Alan Toscano from the tiny house community Dream Big Live Tiny recently installed it in his Texan tiny home. In his words, “The install was much quicker and simpler than I could’ve imagined. It only took 10 minutes and a few tools that I had on hand to get the job done—no plumbers or contractors needed!” 🙌

LARQ Pitcher

Finally, we wanted to share some news from our friends at LARQ. Known for their self-cleaning water bottles, they recently launched the LARQ Pitcher on Kickstarter and were fully funded in just 3 minutes! The LARQ Pitcher is the first water pitcher with a 2-Step filtration and purification process. Plus it uses eco-friendly plant-based filter replacements which use 75% less plastic than traditional filters. Pretty cool, right? Check out their campaign here.

International / Waist-High Units are Shipping Ahead of Schedule! 📦🚢

We have great news for our international backers and those who have been waiting for the Waist-High Nebia by Moen -- we have started shipping the Waist-High version and international shipments ahead of schedule!  🎉 🎉🎉 In fact, we shipped the first 50 Waist-High Nebia by Moen pledges last week and they should be arriving to their destination countries shortly. Beginning next week, we will be shipping 500 Waist-High units each week until all 1,600 shipments have been completed by early September. Our team has worked incredibly hard to get the waist-high version of Nebia by Moen to our backers as soon as possible and we’re proud to be two months ahead of the shipping timeline originally stated on our campaign.

This is a big milestone for us because, for the first time in Nebia’s history, we have designed a shower that works with the standard European setting of a waist-high water outlet. This has been highly requested over the years and we are very excited to offer this elegant and intuitive-to-use solution sooner than expected.

Installation of the Waist-High Nebia by Moen 

In previous updates we have recommended that Waist-High backers acquaint themselves with the Installation Guide in order to speed up the install process upon arrival. Now we have something even better -- a video that walks you through each step of the installation process. This video is meant to complement the Install Guide included in the box. We recommend watching the video all the way through before beginning the installation. To watch the video, click the image or hyperlink below and you will be taken to a blog post containing the video.

We also recommend having all of the tools pictured below before beginning the installation.

While the Waist-High Nebia by Moen does involve some drilling into your shower wall, it is still a relatively easy installation that should take you between 20-30 minutes. However, if you do not feel comfortable performing any step yourself, please contact a plumber or reach out at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to help.

Important - Tracking IDs, Import Fees & Multiple-Item Pledges

As soon as your unit has shipped, you will receive an email containing your tracking number. We also want to remind you that, as stated in our Kickstarter campaign and FAQs, recipients of orders outside of the United States are responsible for any and all costs associated with import taxes, customs duties, or fees levied by the destination country. As a small company, international customs duties are unfortunately outside of our control and we cannot estimate the exact amount. Find out more here. Also, any add-ons such as shelves will ship separately from your Nebia by Moen but will ship during the same timeframe.

Finally, there are still a handful of people who have not yet completed their BackerKit surveys. As a reminder, we will not ship your unit until you’ve completed your BackerKit survey.
